All kinds of stuff!
-Just got back from WISCON where I sat on several fascinating panels and met some really wonderful artists and writers.
-Prior to the conference I stopped in Chicago to visit Connie and her husband and cats. We shot all day in the attic of her 1920's bungalow home on a new project tentatively called "Fade". You can see a teaser trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkVI-OgCN78
-And while I was gone the cake video I did for my friend Elisa Strauss received over 580,000 hits on YouTube in just two weeks!! (www.youtube.com/confetticakes)
-I've created a few new centers of focus for The Medisaga. The Myspace page is now (almost) entirely Medisaga. And on Facebook we have a new group - The Medisaga Film Trilogy - so do come find us!
- Picture above is from "Fade"
- June 12th is the TITANIA party. If you'd like to come be sure to check out the Medisaga Events page!

I'm off to WISCON this coming week with the Cobweb Forest.

If you're attending be sure to stop by our art table and say "Hello". We'll be showing various film clips of our work. I'll also be at the IAF gathering Sunday morning and contributing to the bake sale. I'm so looking forward to meeting many I just know over the internet, and sitting in on fascinating panels and lectures!

At our table I'll have a dvd available of various collaborations with Connie - The Cliff, The Wild Hunt, The Painted Ghost, (films I've used her images in) The House of Voluntary Bondage, Pandora's Box, and I've put the Cobweb Forest on there as well. I'll also have a dvd compilation of some of my short films: Scheherazade, Snow Queen, and a three minute preview of my mermaid film. As well as a completed A: The Siren's Edda, and new clips from TITANIA!

This week the June 2008 issue of Marie-Claire Magazine hit news stands with an article inside about my dear, late friend Stephanie. ("Losing Stephanie", pg. 126) For those of you that know me, or read this blog, you'll know that Stephanie was a remarkable woman who devoted much of her life to helping others. She created and ran a foundation for underserved NYC children that has come to the aid of over 100,000 in the last eight years. Her door was always open, she was kind, intelligent, and creative. She inspired and appeared in so many of my films, and left us all with several words to live by, my favorite, "Never postpone joy!"

So, it is unfortunate that Marie-Claire Magazine has chosen to focus on the sensational aspects of the disease (CJD): the madness, the swearing, the screaming, etc. without letting everyone know how wonderful Stephanie was as a person and mother before this unforgiving, uncontrollable disease took hold of her. At the end it changes the person to someone you don't know. And apparently, the family is understandably upset about the portrayal of Stephanie, and their attempts to deal with her illness and death, and how they are trying to move on. They simply didn't have a lot of time between the onset, proper diagnosis and death - we were all at wits end, and confused and desperate. We were losing someone we loved, someone who greatly inspired us. Those of us that knew her will understand that wasn't the true Stephanie, and that it is the plight of the press to seek out the most "sellable" aspects of a story rather than capturing someone's true spirit.

However, the information in the story regarding CJD is compelling and thought-provoking and worth knowing. I hope this article will bring this disease to the forefront and give the researchers who are working on treatment more resources that lead to a cure.

As for Stephanie - one journalist in Marie-Claire will not be able to dim her spirit or the innumerable acts of kindness and generosity she devoted her days to. She touched so many people who knew her when she was alive. And carry on her spirit now that she is gone.

Thanks, Lisa

Yesterday we shot the very first scene of TITANIA. A winter dream scene between Titania and Nicholas. The day was perfect and I couldn't have asked for better. This has been three years in the making, and I was so thrilled to see it finally come to life.

The landscape out at the park where we were shooting was golden and dry with winter - making all the shots look like Andrew Wyeth paintings. I have to commend my amazing cast and crew - who went above and beyond the call of duty to make this happen, and again, I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to share this day with.

Set pics will be posted soon! Those who belong to the Wing Society will receive a sneak peek of photos and the scene when it is completed.

More news coming soon...
